21-Year Old Unilag Student Wins Muslim World Beauty Pageant

Nigerian, born Obabiyi Aisha Ajibola, tearfully prayed and recited Koranic verses as she won a world attractiveness pageant solely for Muslim women in the Indonesian capital Wednesday, a riposte to the overlook World challenge that has sparked hardline wrath
The 20 finalists, who were all required to wear headscarves, put on a glittering display for the last of Muslimah World, strolling up and down a catwalk in elaborately embroidered dresses and stilettos.
But the contestants from six nations were covered from head to base, and as well as attractiveness they were judged on how well they recited Koranic verses and their views on Islam in the up to date world.

After a display in front of an assembly of mainly devout scholars and devout Muslims, a section of judges selected Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola from Nigeria as the victor.

Eka Shanti, who founded the pageant three years before after mislaying her job as a TV news anchor for denying to eliminate her headscarf, bills the challenge as “Islam’s response to overlook World”.
“This year we on purpose held our event just before the overlook World final to display that there are alternate function models for Muslim women,” she told AFP.

Aisha obtained 25 million rupiah ($2,200) and journeys to Mecca and India as prizes.
