Nidhi Barak, 20, a fine creative pursuits scholar, and Dharmender Barak, 23, who was revising at mechanical school, were slain last evening as locals in Gharnavati village in the Indian state of Haryana observed on.
The two had eloped to close by Delhi on Tuesday because their families did not accept of their connection.
But they had been lured back with pledges that they would not be harmed and would eventually be permitted to wed.

Dharmender Barak was struck and his arms and legs broken, before he was beheaded. His body was supposedly dumped beside his family's home at a public rectangle in the town.
policeman, who had been notified by a villager, reportedly apprehended Miss Barak's family cremating her body on a pyre.
Her half-burnt body and that of Dharmender Barak have been dispatched for a post-mortem.
Local police chief Anil Kumar said: 'While killing the boy they furthermore beheaded him.
'We have apprehended her dad, mother and uncle and we are looking for her male sibling, a ally and person driving of the car in which the twosome were brought back to her home in Gharnavati village.
'Both belonged to the identical village and the identical caste. It is an respect murdering but the killing was not accepted by society.'
