What could make a mother willfully kill her own baby? The suspect, Binta notifies her article to Sunday Sun: “I was born in Layin-Ruwa, Kafur Local Government locality of Katsina State. I got wed 11years before and my husband, Inusa subsequent compelled me to end marriage him. I have only one child, Aminu for him.
“After the end marriage, I determined to proceed into prostitution. The money I proceedt from prostitution is what I use to feed my dad in the village. My dad had separated my mother because my mother begged him to permit me to come back to my previous husband, but my dad turned down the advice. My dad separated my mother because of that.
“While committed in prostitution, I suddenly had an unwanted pregnancy, which I did not terminate. I was adept to conceal the pregnancy and effectively had the baby young man consigned in my room.
“The ward head, Maiunguwa in the town where I was doing prostitution had warned all prostitutes not to have redundant pregnancy, and that any person who got pregnant should relocate to any close by town to consign and care for the baby there.
“But because of the warning by town head, I was at a decrease to what to do with the baby and my calling as a prostitute.
“My good friend, Hindatu Umar proposed that since we do not desire to halt prostitution, we should kill the baby. We both went into the road and acquired rat venom for N40 and utilised it to murder the baby.”
inquired how the baby was really killed, Binta said, “It was about midnight that the proceed was carried out. I notified my friend, Hindatu that I would not desire to observer the killing of my own progeny.
“Hindatu was the one who fed my baby with the poison. She compelled him to drink the poison. When she liked to do it, I went into the other room and took a drug, Valium 5 and dozed off. I awakened up to glimpse that my baby was dead. We covered the dead body with clothes.”
News of the heinous misdeed soon filtered out and the partners in misdeed were apprehended.
Binta talked farther, “Unknown to us, the ward head had perceived about the news that my baby was killed. He rapidly went to Danja policeman position, described the incident and we were apprehended by the police.” In her own confession, Hindatu Umar said, “I am a prostitute. My ally, Binta consigned a baby young man and we have a law by the ward head in the town of Danja that he doesn’t want any redundant pregnancy and that any of us prostitutes who gets pregnant should depart the village and consign the baby in the next town.
“We still enjoy our job as prostitutes and so, we both decided to murder the baby. I proposed to her to murder the baby. We went into the road and bought localizedized rat murdered and by midnight I gave the baby the poison and he drank the poison and past away instantly. I took the canister and fallen it in the lavatory. Later the news disperse and policemen from Danja Police position arrested us.”
